VOICE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS Choose from group singers lab classes for beginners, private voice lessons for all levels, and add a Star Power Band for the ultimate music making opportunity. Researchers agree that learning about music and singing improves test scores, helps students with higher math achievement, builds self confidence, improves coordination and problem-solving, increases fine motor development and much more – including fostering the basic intrinsic value of developing a love and joy for the arts and music. SINGERS LAB CLASSES 2nd to 5th graders Children love to sing, and this class of up to eight students will help young voices grow in an encouraging and personal environment. Included in this class are warm-ups, breathing exercises, sight- singing, note recognition, introduction to music theory, score reading, appropriate repertoire including young Broadway, pop and folk songs through solo and ensemble singing. Group and solo singing with mics and choreography is included. Parent Performance Days are scheduled throughout the year and the teacher will assess the student’s progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time Singers Lab Basic Class Activities: 55 Minute Class, 5 Minutes Parent Time Class Materials: Vocal Song Book, Sight-Singing Book, Music Theory Workbook • Warm-Ups, Breathing Exercises • Sight Singing – Step By Step Examples And Interval Singing • Solfege And Hand Signs • Repertoire Songs: New Songs And Review Material • Table Activities: Theory Workbook • Stage Moves, Selling a Song, Telling the Story • Parent Questions And Assignment Clarification Classes are designed for students to progress at their own pace. Students receive supplementary books during the year. PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS For 1st graders through adult In a private voice lesson, the teacher has the opportunity to help the student individually for the entire lesson time, and structures each lesson personally for the student depending on their skill level and goals. We teach all styles of music, from Broadway, pop, contemporary, Disney, chart hits, jazz and blues standards, gospel, sacred, classical, art songs, foreign language, opera, – you name it! Private vocal students are welcome to perform at our Music Showcase in June (optional), take the Texas State Theory Test in May (optional) and also participate in our Rising Star Music Competition in January (optional). Private Voice Lessons Basics: 30, 45, or 60 Minute Weekly Lessons • Warm-Ups, Breathing Exercises • Interval singing • Sight Singing – step by step examples and staff reading • Solfege and hand signs • Repertoire: Review current assigned material • Repertoire: New Songs – appropriate for the student • Using the microphone • Stage moves, Selling a Song, Stage Presence Private vocal lessons are designed for students to progress at their own pace. Students/parents have input about the style and genre of music they would like to work on. Parent is welcome to observe the lessons, or learn to play right along with the student FREE. STAR POWER BAND SERIES SING EACH WEEK WITH YOUR BAND! 60 Minute Weekly Band Rehearsal The Star Power Band Series at the Frisco School of Music is our best value, and a very unique and popular series. Students have their regular private voice lesson each week, plus attend a one- hour Star Power Band Class each week as well. Star Power Bands are for beginners through advancing players on all instruments. Learning to play together as a team, mastering your part, putting it all together as a stage performance, learning about basic styles and forms is covered each week. Basic music theory concepts are also taught using examples from the songs the bands are playing. Students move ahead in their skill levels at their own pace, and the teacher assigns parts appropriate for each band member. Rock 'n Roll (classic and contemporary), jazz standards, and familiar classics. Star Power Band Series students participate in all school activities including: Star Power Performances (perform a solo for your band mates three times a year), Fall and Spring Concerts (perform as a soloist and with your band on stage with professional lighting and sound), Spring Music Festival (perform a solo for a judge and receive a certificate, comments and a ribbon), Achivement Auditions (optional), Rising Star Music Competition (win trophies and cash awards plus a cash award for your public/private school music department), Texas State Theory Test (optional), and more, along with our graded music theory curriculum (with private teacher). Earn certificates, performance and memory ribbons, and theory medals.
