Blue Jean Concert - 2011 The level of confidence that you will achieve performing on a stage is something that cannot be gained anywhere else! The 2011 Blue Jean Concert is the second of the two major concerts that are given by participants in the Star Power program. As you will see, there are a mix of ages and skill levels represented, and different instruments being played Some of the performers are beginners who have just started taking lessons and are playing for an audience for the first time, while other students have been playing and performing for several years. The students have been taking lessons on a variety of instruments to include; piano, guitar, voice, violin and drums. The performers play rock, jazz, classical and everything in between. In addition to their solo performances each of the musicians perform in a band. These bands provide a rousing wrap to each concert. The concerts were broadcast live on the Internet to let friends and family who couldn't attend watch online from work or home. There were over 250 audience members in attendance and an additional worldwide audience of over 175 viewers watching online. Additionally the concerts featured the debut of the Frisco School of Music’s iBand. This experimental program featured 5 students who with the help of their instructor Gabriel Bautista were able to transfer their musical skills to Apps on the iPad. The video is a compilation of the three performances they gave for the Star Power concerts at the school. They chose three Beatles tunes as a tribute to Apple (computers and records), 'All My Lovin" and a "Hey Jude-Come Together" medley. The iBand performers are: Allison Ponthier, 15, Lowery Freshman Center, Vocalive; Cal Simpson, 13, Evans Middle School, Guitar-Garage Band; Colin Climie, 15, Clark High School, iJ Bass HD; Idrissa Ndiaye, 15, Jasper High School, Piano-Garage Band; Montana Brock, 13, McKinney Christian Academy, Drums-Garage Band; and Gabriel Bautista, Instructor, Pocket Organ.
